what is "\Device\Harddisk\Volume4\"

Armin

My computer gave me the following error message:

Window - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
\Device\Harddisk\Volume4\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may
be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection.
Please try to save this file elsewhere.

The computer has two local HDD's as well as several mapped network
drives. How can I determine which drive caused the error?
IOW, is \Device\Harddisk\Volume4\ a local HDD or a network drive?

If it's a net drive then I would be a lot less concerned since the
error hasn't happened again (it's been 3 days) and perhaps it's just a
case of a temporarily lost net connection. However, if it's a local
drive and the MFT had a write error the problem may be more serious.
