what is causing aero to disappear?

There isnt much out there on this one. I have a high spec machine with loads
of ram and a good graphics card with a 4.6 WEI. Up until today I have
enjoyed vista aero glass but it has suddenly gone and I can't get it back. I
have all the latest drivers (through driver agent). If I go into windows
color and appearance all I have is the appearance setting which defaults to
windows classic, I do have vista aero listed but when I click on it the pane
is blank and when I click apply it defaults back to classic. I have an
overall WEI of 4.6 and a high spec so what is causing aero not to show?

Driver Agent is not the best source

Check your drivers with the maker and/or run SFC /SCANOW from the
command prompt as ADMIN.....
