It is mail that cannot be delivered to the recipients. However its also the
possible side effect of a virus on your system as well. Some variants create
a SMTP mail protocol engine and send them selves out randomly or from
addresses on your address book. It could also be a virus on someone's else's
system that has harvested your email address so the dead addresses wind up
being posted back to you.
A online virus scan is not a bad idea

I understand the virus problem but in this case it is something more to do
with hardware and LAN connections being detected by MS software that are not
actually physically connected. My apologies for being less than candid about
the situation I had hoped that it was a simple matter that many people run
into.

I think what is happening is every time my system is powered all the way
down and back up XP and/or Office (Outlook) 2003 goes through a detection
process of the hardware. And on my box I have a P4 motherboard with built in
LAN chip that is not actually hooked up. The problem is the software detects
the chip in the hardware and automatically changes the outlook connection
setting from “Connect using my phone line†to “Connect using my LAN†and that
is when I start getting the system administrator telling me it won’t send the
email I compose for one silly reason or another.

It is possible that a virus has infiltrated my system but I keep a constant
vigil with my anti virus software as well as my little firewalls. It’s also
possible that I have a hacker that periodically drops by to use my system and
does not clean up after himself. Of course that is why I need to find out
what is going on.

I'll give it a try but it also seems that the more I get into this little
problem that it seems to have something to do with the firewall stuff in SP2.
I have temporarily disabled the XP Firewall to see if this is the problem.
In general I don't mess with BIOS, just not a smart thing to do for most of
us ninnies. Device Manager I can handle.

Ask here, get a response here. WHat is the exact text of the message?

The question is actually the subject line:
What is an Undeliverable message from a System Administrator?

That's not what I asked, but I should think the answer is obvious. It is a
message from the recipient's ISP stating that the message can't be
delivered.
