what happened to property scanner in 2007

The Access 2003 developer extensions contained a nice add-in called Property
Scanner that allowed for searching all items in the database for a string of
text.

This seems to have disappeared from the 2007 developer extensions. Is the
functionality contained in another tool, is it just gone, or am I missing
something?

Thanks in advance.

The Access 2007 Developer Extensions do not include the Property Scanner and
the Customer Startup Wizard that were included in previous versions.

The Access 2007 Developer Extensions provide packaging and deployment tools
and licensing and distribution agreements to make it easier for developers to
bring solutions to market. Whether you are working in a small business or a
large enterprise, as a third-party or an internal developer, the Access 2007
Developer Extensions can facilitate the deployment and management of Access
2007 solutions.

OK, thanks. That's a bummer. Does anyone know of a tool (even third party)
with similar functionality? It sure was nice to be able to search for all the
references to a field or control before I make mods to it.

If your database is under sourcecode control, for example with Microsoft's
Visual Sourcesafe, you can search the source code project. All the
properties are exposed as plain text, so any references in forms, queries,
reports, modules or macros appears in the search. Table properties are the
only thing excluded.

Just install the Access 2003 developer extensions anyway. There will be a file named WIZADE.MDE in a folder under Programs Files\ Microsoft Office\ADE11 (Program Files x86 for Windows 7). When using Access 2007 or 2010, use the add-in manager and find this file. The functionality of the Property Scanner is similar to that when used with Access 2003 with occasionally some nuisance warnings.

I too, have used the Property Scanner extensively when managing very large Access projects.
