What happened to ability to search non-outlook folders???

I used to love clicking on a "folder" shortcut from shortcuts I created from
my hardrive or server and using Outlookks Cntrl-Shft-F Find to search through
my folders. Now, however, when I click on my folder shortcut on my Outlook
Menu bar, it just opens a Microsoft window showing the folder or files and
forcing me to use the Operating system search rather than Outlooks? Is this
now unavailable with 2003?
