Sounds like you have a damaged profile - try creating a new mail profile
here: Control Panel->Mail Icon. Do not copy your old profile - it is
corrupt.

I'm getting this same error. It was wierd, I wasn't even using my mail
program, I was playing a video game and the screen went black. I reset the
computer after it didn't do anything and after trying Ctrl+Alt+Del and
Alt+F4, and when windows started back up, it tries to do a ScanDisk check. I
let it try the first time, but it encountered an error, and it tries
everytime I start my computer now. After that it loads into Windows, but
when I go to my E-mail, I get the same error message as Mike. I'm using
Windows XP Pro x64 Edition, and my Outlook is from Office 2003, version
11.5608.5606. I tried finding this mail profile thing you mentioned, but I
don't know where it is. Is there any help you could provide for my problem
short of wiping out my HDD and starting over with a fresh install?

In order to see the Mail applet in Control Panel on a 64 bit system, you
must first enable the 32 bit Control Panel.
