What features can I use that will degrade gracefully on older browsers?

What features can I enable on Front Page 2003 that will DEGRADE
GRACEFULLY on older browsers.

I.e., if I used a Hover Button, would this just appear as a static (but
functional button) on a very old browser (IE 3 or the equivalent
Netscape) ?

I'd like to use the new features, as long as the page is at least
FUNCTIONAL (need not be pretty ;-) on older browsers.

I realize that FP2003 has a Compatibility option (set for IE/Netscape,
etc.)

However, I'm willing to use IE-only features as LONG AS the degrade
gracefully.

Also, if I turn on Javascript features (to get a Hover button, etc.)
will this degrade non-gradefully?

Thanks!

The user must have a Java Virtual Machine installed, if not then they do not display, and user can
not naivgation your site.

You have to specify the features you are thinking of using. Avoid VML Graphics.

Java and JavaScript are not the same.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I shied away from the old Hover Buttons for
exactly that reason.

I should have specified: I'm using the new FP 2003 buttons. Those DO
work without Javascript. They just become plain images. You can stlll
click 'em and they execute the action, but they dont have a mouse over.

Interactive buttons will work on all 4th generation browsers (Netscape 4)
and later.
The number of users of earlier browsers is almost zero (none have appeared
in my site stats. for at least two years ).

They will actually work w/ all level browsers
- they are just images w/ hyperlinks and javascript mouseovers
(on older browsers or ones w/ javascript disabled you just won't get the rollover images)
