Most of us know what the changes to windows, service pack 2 brings. I was
wondering what exactly was service pack 1 for windows xp for? What did it
change about the first release of windows xp.

Any service pack brings a collection of fixes and improvements to
the software it is for. You may think you know what SP2 brings,
but it's likely that you know about only a small fraction of the
many changes it makes to Windows XP. In either SP1 or SP2, there
are far too many fixes and improvements to know about in detail.

That's why people who say "I already have a firewall, pop-up
stoper, etc., and therefore don't need SP2" are wrong.

I tried SP2 and it disables DLA (Drive Letter Access) which prevents
me from formatting CD's! Do you know if Microsoft is working on a fix
for this?
Thanks

Hi, didn't on mine, I can format, erase, burn, whatever on all of my 10 XP
PC's. Check with your burning software to see if there's an upgrade....

Mine is called RecordNow and is by Sonic Software but their support
told me it was not compatible with SP2. What do you use?
Thanks

I meant it is from Veritas software not Sonic, Sonic purchased
Veritas.
