windows Vista Home Premium x 64bit
AMD dual core x64 bit 3800+
300gb hdd
Asus A8N-E Mobo socket 939
Nvidia Geoforce 6800LE

Belkin F5D7000 wireless G networking card (will not show in device manager)
even with 64 bit driver update
Blackgold TV tuner card (will not show in device manager) even with 64 bit
driver update

I am mystified, I have 5 devices that show as other devices in device
manager in this order (won't install)

multimedia controller PCI bus 5, device 7, function 2
multimedia video controller PCI bus 5, device 7, function 0
network controller PCI bus 5, device 8, function 0
unknown device ACPI\PNPB006
unknown device ACPI\PNPB02F

What does it all mean and what do I need to install to get these to work
correctly? Do I need nvidia display drivers, nforce drivers, forceware
drivers? it is very complicated

Visit the Asus site, download and install the Vista x64 drivers for your
mobo. Did you install Vista x64 on this computer without first making sure
drivers were available for all your devices?

Check the driver download section of the PC mfg (if an OEM system) or the
motherboard mfg if a custom build.
multimedia controller - likely your sound card
multimedia video controller - could be your graphics card or a capture card
network controller - just what it says, a network controller, could be wired
or wireless.
The other 2 may be related to the motherboard chipset, install the chipset
drivers from the website suggested above.

Thanks guys,
the 64 bit drivers are available for both my belkin wireless card and
blackgold tv tuner/capture card and iI have installed them but the found new
hardware wizard refuses to acknowledge them. I might have to physically
remove the cards and then power off/insert cards/power on and let plug and
play pick them up.......................if that is the way to go?

If they already failed installation, you need to go into device manager,
right click each unknown device, and select uninstall, Windows will then
attempt their reinstallation the next time it boots. Or right click each on
and select update driver, then point the wizard to the directory the driver
files are in.

Check the docs for the devices. Some devices (like most HP printers)
require you to install the software before attaching the device, not after.

Particularly network adaptors which is one of the OP's problem. All that
I've installed designate the the software is to be installed forst then the
hardware.
