Storage Controller Problem

Hello

Just upgraded to Vista 32 OS after having used Windows Xp for some time.
Downloaded all the drivers for the motherboard from Asus site, namely:

Intel Chipset Software Intallation Utility Package V8.3.0.1013 WHQL
Marvel LAN Driver
SoundMax Driver
Marvell 88SE61xx PATA-SATA

However, after installation Device Manager shows a remarked item under
Storage
Controllers presently showing as AW30I5PW IDE Controller. I said presently
because
earlier it appeared under a different name (A9DQ30UN).

After trying everything I can think of including uninstalling/reinstalling
via Device Manager
I have come to the end of the road and would really appreciate some
assistance with this
matter. Relevant specs below.

Thanks in advance

Joaquin

So what kind of a probl3m are you having?
What does not work?
Various controllers may ID as a functional equivilent, due to the way they
are tested by the drivers..
(I'm not a real fan of Intel chipset support software)

Hello Chuck

Many thanks for your reply. I finally sorted the problem by doing a clean
Vista reinstall.
The remarked IDE Controller was Marvell Storage Virtual Device and even
though I had the drivers
it just wouldn't install. Upon rebuild it installed fine. Not sure why it
happened on the first build,
I must have done something wrong. However having searched on the net I came
accross a lot of
messages from people complaining about Marvell drivers and how they
sometimes just won't install.

Regards

Joaquin
