What does the 'Map Network Drive' function do?

I'm just looking through excel and noticed the map network drive function,
and just wondered what it is and what does it do?

Hi,

It's not really part of Excel it's the same wozard you get in Wondows
Explorer on the tools menu.

It's function is exactly what it says it allows you to connect to drives
that are on your netwok and to which you are given access privileges. You
manually assign a drive letter, click 'Browse' and you should get a list of
drives on your network.
