Lately, each time I start up my PC under XP I get the message:
"Windows error: Duplicate name exists on the network."

What does this mean?

Jerry

Hi
It means that two computers have the same Network parameters.
Check the computer names to make sure that they are not the same.
Right click on My Computer icon. Click on Properties choose the tab Computer
name. Click on the last button "Change" and change it to what ever you like
(do not forget to do so on every Computer that is on the Network).
After changing the names reboot all the Computers on the Network so that the
Network Neighborhood browser subsystem would reset and come up with the
correct names.
Jack (MVP-Networking).
