"What do you want to do" prompt no longer appears

Usually when you plug in an external drive, the computer prompts you with
"What do you want to do?" That prompt no longer appears. Does anyone know how
to get it back?

From My Computer, right click on the drive, choose properties, autoplay tab.
Put a check mark in "Prompt me each time to choose an action". Ok out. If
that doesn't work try running the Autoplay Repair wizard.

Thanks. I'll have to call the customer on Monday and talk her through that,
but that certainly appears to be the best course of action. I'll reply again
when I know how it works.
