I'm being sent documents with a .mdi filetype which I've never heard
of before. The Microsoft website says these are some sort of TIFF and
I suspect Microsoft is trying to reinvent Acrobat.

What is someone that doesn't use MS Office supposed to use to print
these files? Even if OOo *does* handle them, i see no reason to fire
up a fat application just to print an emaiil attachment.

OOo 2.0.2 doesn't seem to. There is a 2.0.3 that I haven't played
with, yet.

Thanks

This happened to me once. Have them send as TIFF files so that you can open
them.

MDI
Office Document Imaging File

A high resolution, tag-based graphics format. .MDI files are only supported
by the Microsoft Office 2003 version (and later?) of Microsoft Office
Document Imaging. If you are going to share files with people who are using
Office Document Imaging 2002, or another document imaging program, save your
files in TIFF format for compatibility.

While you can open and edit TIFF files created with Office Document Imaging
by using many other graphics applications, MDI files can only be opened or
edited in Office Document Imaging. If you are going to share files with
people who are using Office Document Imaging 2002, or another document
imaging program, save your files in TIFF format for compatibility.
