MDI Format file - how to open & read

Someone has sent me two MDI files. I cannot view these, no matter what I
tried.
I went to the "About Microsoft Office Document Imaging" website and the MDI
Format with office 2007, followed their direction, but no luck in
reading the MDI files.

Please suggest my next step.
