how can you save a word 2007 file as a *.mdi file?

I have installed office 2007. Word 2007 doesn't have an option under save as
for *.mdi file types. Yes I ahve already installed Microsoft Document Imaging
and it doesn't help. I just want to save a file as an mdi file type.
Any assistance would help

If you convert the Word file into a .tif, (copy/paste into an editing program
and save as), you then can open it in Microsoft Document Imaging program and
save as a .mdi.

Word (any version) doesn't Save As .mdi - you need to launch MS ODI & use
File> Import, then save in the default .mdi format.
