What do I do if the accept button isn't in a meeting request?

One of my users sent a meeting request out but none of the recipients have
the accept button. The reqeust comes over in plain email text.
 
Force Rich Text Format before sending (right click, properties)

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, findann asked:
