Hello,

I have a Plustek A3I scanner that has no windows XP driver. I
configured my system for a dual boot arrangement, one partition windows 98se
and one partition windows xp. Unfortunately the scanner is malfunctioning. Is
there anything practical I can do with this old OS to justify keeping it? It
was a lot of work to get this far.

Unless the hard drive space is needed, leave the Windows 98
installation in place. It might come in handy, on the so-called
"rainy" day, when XP fails to start but Windows 98 can still
boot the computer. The only downside is that Winodws 98 does
not recognize NTFS partitions.

1 - Sure Win 98 cannot access NTFS partitions. But use a FAT32 one ( small)
so you can exchange data between XP and 98.
2 - Scanner and XP : have found a link here :

Look for following post :

problem:
Does Plustek A3I scanner support WinXP?
solution:
Click on DOWNLOAD button to get the driver for A3I scanner under
WinXP.

Hope that helps ???

Give feedback plz !
Good luck
