After running Norton CleanSweep I still have lots of files that look
useless to me. Can I delete any of these? (Using XP Home SP1)

~*.tmp files
There are lots of these in \Documents and Settings\Owner\Temp and
\Documents and Settings\Owner\application Data\Microsoft\Word

Many of them are 0 or 1 kb, and most of them are old.

Files in \Windows\Temp and subdirs, such as
perflib*.dat

Files in \temporary internet files -- cookies.

Why doesn't XP or Norton clean them up?

TIA
David.

Disk Cleanup might be a good place to start. (Don't select Compress Files-
it takes ages)! Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools

Good luck,

Ed
