What are these files?

I have a PC that has two hard drives in it. Both are 40
Gig. The "C" drive has all my Windows XP Pro files and
programs loaded. I use the other drive for my backup
stuff. However, on that backup drive I now have 2 folders
that it won't let me access. They are
called, "37de5ca35f6d5d6"
and "e13fef7a1a58f16126741c623a6b29a3". When I go into
these folders, then have subfolders called, "update".
When I click on these folders the computer gives me this
message, "Access is denied".

Does anyone know what these are? Is it part of the
Microsoft system? Patches? If so, whey are they on that
drive and not my C: Drive? Can I move them or delete them
without messing things up? I know I cannot delete them
normally because it won't give me the ability even though
I am an Administrator. Hope someone can help.

If your drive is just for backup you can delete them. Try deleting in safe
mode.
