Just Me

On my desktop I have icons like "My Computer", My Network Places", "My
Documents"...

These do not appear to be links. Yet if I look my Desktop directory I do not
see them.

Can I delete these with out bad consequences?

Are they really links?

Thanks

If you do not want them on your Desktop......

Right click Desktop | Properties | Desktop tab |
Customize Desktop button | UNCheck:
My Documents
My Computer
My Network Places
OK |Apply | OK
[[Specifies whether these Windows items will appear as icons on your
desktop. Select the check box if you want the item to appear on your
desktop; clear the check box if you do not want the item to appear on your
desktop.]]

They are basicly shortcuts, but you shouldn't delete them, just use xp's
custom desktop feature to show or hide the ones you want.
Right click desktop, properties, desktop, customize desktop. Under the
desktop items area.

They are the shorcuts to your documents, your computer,
or your network places, They can be deleted from the
desktop without harming anything, as long as you keep
them in your start menu, if you dont have them in your
start menu, and you delete them, you wont have access to
your computer, other than whats on ya desktop.
