What are REAL essential system processes?

Now, i have to confess that i once tried Family Keylogger from some website
and found out about its trick of the process "ctfmon.exe". As you would know,
keylogger is a spy software that records every button you press on the
keyboard. This software uses its own ctfmon.exe as a "spy" and pops up at
task manager, of course, including an option to hide it. i only installed it
just because my sister seemed to have installed some sort of keystroke and i
thought it was keylogger, and asked, "Is she eating my pies while i'm gone?"
Well, i have deleted that program because of such "risks" if my sister finds
out about keylogger(i cincerely don't know how she found out), and obviously,
i wouldn't BUY that program.

Since Family Keylogger used such a system process as a "spy", my guts are
starting to moving quite evil in case of "backstabbing" from my sister. i
searched the phrase "ctfmon.exe" on the File Search, and found "ctfmon.exe"
in the folder C:\Windows\System32\. The icon and its properties seemed as
normal essential process, but i still worried if my sister somehow hacked it.
And i know that "ctfmon.exe" is NOT an essential process, but a startup
program.

i'd like to know what "ctfmon.exe" is about, what it does, obviously, and
processes on task manager that are so essential, even super computer expert
should not touch them. Now, when i mean by ESSENTIAL, that means the OS runs
in Normal Mode, with ONLY Microsoft services, no startup programs whatsoever.
i will thank you very much if you could tell me what each essential process
are for and what they do. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you for reading!!! =)
