What are Intervideo Media Files

Had OEM version WinDVD4, Intervideo Media Files started to show up in some of
my programs. WinDVD4 would not open them. Downloade WinDVD6 same
thing,usuallywith the following" The file number 1 has invalid format" What
gives and are these files important
