WFP Error

I am getting a WFP error at start up on a win 2000 pro box that goes like
this...

Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by
unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the
original versions of these files.

Insert your Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM now.

When you insert the disk the box goes away but the problem isn't fixed.
I found an article in Microsoft support hat had me replace a certificate
file from another 2000 box. This didn't correct the error and I haven't found
any other info regarding this. This Error throws and event of 64033, which
is how I found the article at microsoft. Anyone elso have any ideas........

Apparently, we have a similar problem in that my problems
started with the exact same symptoms. I posted the
following under the Security section of this newsgroup,
but haven't received any response....let me know if you
get any answer/solution or have any answers to my
questions. Thanks, Bob....
"Working on a friends Windows 2000 Pro PC. Apparently
missing at least one trusted root certificate; i.e., the
No Liability Accepted (c)97 Verisign. When trying to
install SP4 on his Win 2000 also encountered problem with
Cryptographic services. Questions: (1) I have all 6 of
the required Trusted Root Certificates on my XP PC and
have exported them to CER files, can they safely be
imported to the Win2000 PC?, I know which DLL files are
necessary to be registered for the Cryptographic services
on the Win 2000 PC, but if I can get SP4 installed should
that be necessary? Thanks in advance for your response
to my email of (e-mail address removed)"

Hi;

Given that the certificate solution in the KB article didn't work, give this
a try.

1. First install SP4 if you have not already. If you have already, install
SP4 again --- from a clean, new download or from a known good source (a CD
you received from MS, for example). If you must, download a clean new copy
of it from
http://www.microsoft.com/Windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/download.asp
(to read about it) and
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/6/A/E6A04295-D2A8-40D0-A0C5-241BFECD095E/W2KSP4_EN.EXE
(the full install -- about 129 MB).

2. After you install SP4, open a CMD window and type "sfc /purgecache" and
let that complete. Then type "sfc /scannow" and let that complete. Insert
your CD if asked. That will clear any "bad" files out of the folder WFP
uses, and generate a totally new set based on your Win2000 SP4 files.

3. Once all the above is done (and you have done the final Restart), visit
WU http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install all the Critical
Updates offered for your system.
