Western Digital settles capacity dispute - offers free backup software

C

Carey Frisch [MVP]

Western Digital Corp. is offering free software to about 1 million
consumers to resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging that its computer
hard drives stored less material than promised - a discrepancy
stemming from high-tech's different standards for sizing up digital data.

It is actually useful information for PC users such as ourselves to obtain
something we are legally entitled to. It is not advertising any particular
product for sale, or for personal gain.

It is called a useful piece of information.

First, If your a consumer and your concerned about it don't you think
you could go to the manufacturer's website or at the very least go to a
news site?

Second, the link you listed for spam does not work.

Third, how did you all get those pretty honorary titles? Who honored
you?

Fourth, there is a thing called relevance and if you have taken any
course work or gotten a degree dealing with Windows or computers you
would have taken a section dealing with this. This article is not
relevent for the majority. It has nothing to do with Windows and only
a minority of people who have Western Digital drives. Take it to a
WESTERN DIGITAL BOARD.

In conclusion, by validating a post like this you are saying that you
hate people and want them to suffer for your stupidity. Thanks for the
affirmation. Next time I post in a Windows Hardware message board I
will post something about my cat Baxter. Because it has as much
relevence as the original post and everyone loves Baxter.

Not if I have not heard the news - could I rely on WD telling me? - NO
Second, the link you listed for spam does not work.

All the links work - including the spam link - perhaps you do not klnow how
to use links - try microsoft.newusers group to ask there.
Third, how did you all get those pretty honorary titles? Who honored you?

Probably by being more helpful than you have/are/will be

And what section in the degree course would that be - quote it.
This article is not relevent for the majority.

This is the hardware group - the info is re hardware - anyone running this
hardware on XP would find it most relevant - even if to a few.
It has nothing to do with Windows and only a minority of people
who have Western Digital drives.

Answered above
Take it to a WESTERN DIGITAL BOARD.

And where would I find one of these 'Boards'?

Ah, there is your problem - you thought you were in a board - you are in a
newsgroup - perhaps it would be better for all of us if you stayed in a
board.

I remain diffident about you.
I have some sympathy for the afflicted.

P.S.
Even if Carey has only brought this to the attention of one WD user then the
post has served its purpose.
