Western digital Hard drive

I have just installed a second hard drive (Used but in
good condtion) in my new Compaq Presario S4000NX computer.

The Setup program (BIOS, CMOS) recognizes the hard drive.
Windows XP Home Ed does not.

I've tried troubleshooting, changing jumpers (master,
slave), etc, etc. Nothing works. Anyone have any ideas.

Please help!

Has the drive been formatted? In Control Panel / Administrative Tools /
Computer Management / Disk Management do you see the drive listed? If so,
when you right-click on it, use the Format option.
