Wes Vogel: Need help with VBouncer removal

G

Guest

Spybot found VBouncer on my system yesterday, but could not remove it. I
went to kephyr.com's website and followed instructions for removal. However,
the files in question concerning VBouncer were not on my system.
Incidentally, AdAware did not detect a problem, and neither did CW Shredder.
I tried running Spybot in Safe Mode but that didn't help.

Spybot lists the problem file as C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\GLF81.temp. I tried
manually deleting it also.

Please give me your input. I am a relative novice. Thank you.

Wes, I was able to reinstall the AdAware 6. I reconfigured it for a full
scan. I also reconfigured AdAware SE. Ran the two full scans, but nothing
came up. Spybot still shows VBouncer as being there.

Would a System Restore help me any?

Thanks for your patience.

Red Eagle,

If you install Ad-Aware SE, you should uninstall Ad-Aware SE 6.
Unbang your head. :)

Red Eagle,

I would uninstall Ad-Aware 6 and keep Ad-aware SE.

What file were you able to open with Notepad??

Where or how does Spybot S&D show that you have VBouncer.

Do you have VirtualBouncer.exe or VBouncerInner**********.exe (where *
represents a digit) on your machine??

Is there a folder on your machine called VBouncer??

You stated that you have Show Hidden files enabled.

Start | Search for files and folders |
Search for:
VirtualBouncer.exe
VBouncerInner?.exe
VBouncer

Red Eagle.

Try rebooting into Safe Mode.
Open Task Manager.
Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
Processess tab.
Click the Image Name header to alphabetize.
Look for:
VirtualBouncer.exe
VBouncerInner**********.exe
If you see one, highlight it.
End Process button.
Answer YES.

Open: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\GLF81.tmp

Shift + Delete keys.
Answer Yes

Safe Mode.
1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On
a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems,
you can press the F8 key when you the Boot Menu appears.
2. Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and
then press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in
blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and
then press ENTER.
