When I startup up my computer, it goes to the Welcome screen. This is
cool...but it shows that I have X amount of unread mail in my inbox and X
amount in my wifes account. It does NOT update the amount with what is
ACTUALLY in my inbox...this is rather annoying. I'd rather it didnt even
show that i have unread mail if it's not going to be accurate. Anyone out
there have a fix action for this? I've looked in the support pages but Im no
longer up to digging for hours trying to find one tidbit of info...

Hi

You can get rid of that message:

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).
