Welcome Screen No Longer Appears

When I start my WinXP home computer, it automatically loads to the account
(there is only one on it), and completely bypasses the welcome screen. It had
never done this before. What can I do to correct this?

Thanks in Advance

In your Control Panel, open the User Accounts applet,
click on your account icon, then click on "create a password".

Why would you want to? If you only have one account on the computer
and you don't need to password protect it I would think you'd prefer
having the computer boot directly into your account. I only have one
account on my XP computer and mine has always booted directly to the
desktop. I can't imagine having to go through an extra step of
clicking on my user name before I'm able to use the computer.

Maybe the OP doesn't live alone or maybe this a work system.
Just becasue you you see no need for privacy/security doesn't mean it is an
invalid concern.

The last thing I want is for my daughter to boot my work computer and just
get logged in. I keep all my invoicing, scheduling, source code, etc on that
system and if anything was accidentally messed up because of an inadvertant
action on her part, I would be upset and she would feel badly.

Likewise my wifes laptop is also password protected.

You really must not have a good imagination. Go watch two hours worth of
looney tunes and post back in the morning. :)
