Welcome screen, beep, hang

I'm using XP Pro

Prob: When my computer starts up and gets to the welcome
screen (I have no accounts to login for as I turned it
off) then the computer itself goes *beep* once and then
the computer hangs at the welcome screen. The mouse still
works.

The only way I can get around it is to press Alt+Ctrl+Del
once then it continues to load. But if I don't and leave
the computer there for another 10 mins nothing happens
still. Anyone know what's going on?

Try to clean boot the machine.

MSCONFIG
Startup tab
Selective startup and uncheck all check marks

If it boots fine from there then it sounds like you might have something in
the startup group that is loading when you boot.
