My wife was watching Oprah's webcast last night and our computer totally
froze. So I manually turned it off as I could not do anything including shut
down. Now, when I boot up, I get to the multiple users login page, but the
system does not allow any users to login beyond that point. We do not have
any passwords on the user accounts so it used to just start up when you would
click on any of the user names. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Can you get into Safe Mode? To do this, repeatedly tap the F8 key as the
computer is starting up. Use the keyboard to select Safe Mode since the
mouse won't work here.

If you can't get into Safe Mode, from the same menu try Last Known Good
Configuration. If that doesn't work, the sudden lockup may have been caused
by failing hardware and not software at all. Unfortunately, there is no way
for me to accurately diagnose this from a newsgroup post. You'd be best off
taking the machine to a qualified computer professional in that case. This
will not be someone from BigComputerStore/GeekSquad.

I agree with Malke, use Last Known Good Configuration from the Advanced Boot
Options Menu.
