weirdness in OE

M

Me

Using Outlook Express, I am getting emails with attachments that, in some
cases, only show up as those paperclips on the list of messages, not in the
lower panel's upper corner. I am also getting other attachments to emails,
some of which I myself posted to a list-serve, but I didn't attach anything
to them.

Norton has caught and cleaned a virus I picked up last week, or at least
Norton identified, quarantined and deleted the bad boys, several times
(w32novarg.A@mm), and I have blocked all sender addresses for infected
attachments. But these other attachments aren't malicious, or don't seem to
be. I update daily now on definitions, and scan. I ran the Norton fix for
this virus, and it didn't find it, once I cleaned it out. I ran it several
time, over several days.

Help?

Tools>Options>Read>Read all messages in Plain Text (uncheck; otherwise learn
to live with the "attachments" as they contain the HTML/Rich Text encoding
of the HTML messages).

Thanks. I did that. Is this unique to OE6? I've been running OE6 for some
time now and this hasen't happened before. And prior to that, I ran OE 5
for years (or so it seems).

Yes, the option is unique to OE6-SP1.
