About 2 weeks ago my shift+j stopped giving me a capital J. The only way
I can get this to work is by using caps lock. It is the only letter
affected. I have downloaded, deleted and reinstalled the keyboard
drivers and tried 2 different keyboards but to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just a guess but maybe something has remapped that key combination.

Try the free program KeyTweak from:-

http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?ID=1698

It will show any remapped keys and has a button to restore all
defaults
