Weird things at 5 minute marker???

I've put together a video and got down to the last few clips. When I drag and drop my next video clip into the timeline (which is at 4:57), I get about 3 seconds of video that is not there when I preview it from the collection window. When I try to edit, it cuts out the beginning of what I actually want and keeps the mysterious 3 second footage. I can repeat this process until nothing is left except the 3 second-unwanted footage. I've zoomed into the timeline completely and have found no extra clips. I've deleted clips and re-edited them from about the 4:30 mark. Everytime I get back to that point (near 5 minutes), I get the mystery clip added back into things. What's happening???

That's weird if your source files are DV-AVI from a digital camcorder...
it's not weird if they are MPEG2 files from someplace else....

How about some more info about where your files came from, the file type(s)
and how you got them into the computer.

Hi There,

Try this, take the video clip prior to the one you believe is causing
the problem and make a project containing just that clip. Then create
a Movie at the highest resolution you can (DV-AVI). Use that file in
the project where you are having problems instead of the original
clip. It would be a good idea to delete that clip
