weird search window

when I hit my search icon a weird search window comes up
called:

Cool Web Search

I think it was "put" on my computer maliciously. Nothing
happens when I hit NEW or CUSTOMIZE so I can not change
it that way. Any suggestions to get rid of it?

I had the same problem. See my post on July 4 at 4:11 pm.
There is a reply posted that will answer your question. I
haven't had time to try their solution yet. Will let you
know if it works.
He's right. The site seems to be 99% porn. For the record.
I don't visit porn sites. However, I have received porn
spam. I can only assume that's where it came from.
This speaks volumes about the need for tighter security. I
run Zone Alarm, a good firewall package. But, that
apparently doesn't stop this kind of thing.

This is a very recent hijacker, that isn't yet covered by Ad-Aware.
SpyBot S&D ought to remove it, providing the July 3d *beta* definitions have been installed.

We do however have lots of experience removing it manually. Please do the following:
Go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere.

NOTE: Most of what Hijack This lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the Browser Hijacking/Spyware Removal section, press "new topic", explain your
problem, and copy and
paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message.
You'll get expert assistance in dealing with your problem, and it'll be gone from your computer in
no time at all.

I encountered the same problem with "youfindall.net"
and "coolwwwsearch.com".

I found immediate help at:

Look for the section on Browser Hijacking and the entry
on "youfindall".

FWIW, I downloaded an update from Ad-Aware today (July 5th).
Says "Reference file 0R150 05.07.2003 loaded".
