weird hangs and errors

hi, up until a few weeks ago my machine ran sweet as (Windows XP pro, SP2);
But as of late I'm having a few niggles namely the odd BSoD or hangs (with
no error messages) on a daily basis;
The Blue screens usually refer to the NV4_DISP.Dll driver which is part of
the NVidia drivers set up, so I think I've cracked this one by scrubbing out
and reinstalling my display drivers, but the hanging problem is really
getting on my norks;
The only thing I can think of causing the problem is when I check my device
list (show hidden) it keeps telling me KGCNDABY is missing!!!;
After checking a miriad of search engines and Microsofts bottomless database
I've drawn a blank, so can anyone tell me what this driver is?, what does it
do? and how I can repair the furshlugginer thing (short of a complete wipe)

Update your video driver. NVidia graphics card should be updated as
well with the rest of your computer. If you're XP Automatic Updates
don't offer an update for the video driver. My next stop would be the
maker of your card. If it is Dell then download their driver from their
Dell Support Web site. They conveniently have a link to the latest
driver (5/5/2005). This will most likely solve the problem.
One thing you should be aware of is that when the new driver is
installed, it sets the resolution at a default of 800x600, so you will
need to adjust that after you restart.
It took some perseverance on my part to find this solution, and I'm
sure, someone with less understanding than me could never have solved
this on their own. Incomprehensible error messages remain a big issue
in Windows. I hope the next version, Vista, uses more understandable
error messages with clear instructions on how to resolve the issue, or
at least a clear road map on how to find the answer.
