I'm running a Sony Vaio PC. In addition to the 16gig C: drive it came with,
I have a 180gig hard drive that has been partitioned into D: and H:.
Running WinXP Home.
I have found on my H: drive, a folder named af6898ffcaf0d05. It is full of
files that look like they belong somewhere in the Windows folder. Lots of
..sys and .dll files, as well as many other file types. EXE files are also
plentiful, and include wmplayer.exe, winlogon.exe, userinit.exe,
unregmp2.exe, taskmgr.exe, smss.exe, regedit.exe, msconfig.exe, etc. etc.
It also has folders within it such as "new", "lang", "ic", and download".
It's eating up 263MB.
What the heck is this? Have I accidentally copied such a folder onto my H:?
Could XP somehow assigned such an OS folder to my H: drive instead of the
C:? Can this be deleted?
I also have hundreds of "quickfinder information" .IDX files on my H: drive,
what are they, and can they be deleted?
Many thanks
Dave
