Weird Files i cant remove

The problem with our pc, is that on our portable hard drive, we found some
files, in "My Music" that we cant open. the filetype is gibberish, asa re the
filenames. The strangest part, is that these files have the strangest times
of update: for instance: july 13, 2048, 22:16" and all have enormous sizes
(22 gigs!)
we cant remove them, as the computer "cannot read files from source"

Its tearing us up!

First try deleting them in safe mode. If that doesn't work, reboot, hit
F8 and choose boot from command line and navigate to the file and delete
it there (del nameoffile).

If only that would work! It keeps telling us that the syntaxis of Filename,
Location or Volume is wrong

You tried both methods or just Safe Mode?
