Caps in file names - weird.

I have a number of workstations that have issues with filenames that are
supposed to have all caps, but show only the first letter as a cap and the
rest lower. What is weird is that I have some files show all caps as they
should. I know windows will try and adjust the file names to make it look
more "pleasing", but is's annoying. Is there some attribute to the file(s)
that tell windows not to convert the file name? I found a registry hack to
turn that function off, but with the number of systems we have and the
weirdness factor, I would like to find the underlying reason for it.

Thanks!
Joe

I was wondering what triggers Windows to automatically change the case. Any
clues?

I found the tweak for the "fix" before I started this thread.

Thanks for the page. Has a good number of tweaks that will be helpful.

CAUSE
For readability purposes, Windows displays the names of files and folders
with only the first letter capitalized.

Joe, just curious, why would you want it in all caps, and/or why does it
matter?

With our Avid Unity SAN system, we have many thousands of files for our HD
projects, DS|HD projects and ProTools projects. We like to sort them by
client and then project. Most of our clients have abbreviated names, which we
like to have in all caps. Makes it easier to read. I have had a number of
users complain. Our chief video engineer was wondering why windows handles
filenames that way .I wanted to know as well. Never gave much thought to it
until now.

Cheers,
Joe

Interesting, thanks for explaining.
