Weird cd-burning problem

I installed a sony dvd reader/cr writer on a xp sp2 machine. I can burn a cd
w/o any problem using the windows interface. After the cd is ejected, it ,
and any other cd can not be read until the computer is rebooted. I installed
Roxio version 6. There are no problems if I use it to burn a cd. Any ideas
what the problem may be?

Did you use the software eject or just yank it out?
I would not bother to use the windows interface whether it is working or not
because Roxio works quite well.
