Websites look Smaller

What about this?

Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center
(click) Make the computer easier to see
(look under) Make things on the screen larger
(click) Change the size of text and icons
UAC wil ask permission

I have the option to increase the DPI setting.

Why not play around with different screen resolutions?

Sure, but it's still no problem changing resolutions, just choose
whatever looks best to you...
 
You are wasting people's time here.

You have been told it is the screen resolution; and it is.

My boss complains of this as well, seems like IE7 or just the way font sizes
are handled in general in Vista makes everything look smaller.

You can right click on your desktop, select personalize, and on the left
there should be something to adjust your default font size to a higher DPI
(dots per inch?). Try the 120DPI setting, see if that makes everything feel
bigger all around.

I think Vista does make everything feel smaller, maybe because the default
icons are so much bigger?

I had/have (still doesn't look quite right) the same problem (along with
other visual problems). I also got a new computer a couple of weeks ago with
Vista.
It came with the resolution set at 1440x900 (I have a 19" monitor) and
websites looked way smaller. I've been trying out the different resolutions
(font sizes, etc.) and a few days ago settled on 1280x800. Things look
better but still not quite right. I have a XP at work so it's quite
different (not for the better) when I get home to my computer.

Sometimes I long for my old Win98se, lol!
 
If you have a wide screen monitor, and use a resolution for a standard
screen, you will run into visual problems. Use a resolution for a wide
screen monitor, if that is what you have.

Did your monitor come with any software? If so did you check maker's site
for
updates? Did you check the Controls built into the monitor?

Right click on your desktop. Display setting. That should bring up a
control box for your video card. You'll see one or two graphics
depending on your graphic card that look like little monitor screens.

You'll see a slider that you can move from left to right which changes
resolutions. Click on the pointer that moves between low and high and
keep your left mouse button pressed down. Start at the far right end
and SLOWLY move it back while watching the graphic of the monitor. As
you do it should change from 16/9 (wide) representations to square
ones. Settle on a wide resolution then click apply and then OK. If
you got a LCD monitor check you manual and see what the native
resolution is. Best results are obtained leaving it at that.
 
Hi Spirit, Yes I did receive software which I'll check out this weekend. I
haven't done anything with the monitor controls. First new computer I've
ever had and I've been kind of afraid to mess something up, lol. But you're
right I need to investigate things further which I will in the next few days.
