Website tracking

I have a client who would like to track how many hits the
page gets after they started advertising on TV. I have
the server keeping track of stats on a monthly basis, but
I'm curious, short of using a hit counter on the page
(which I think looks tacky and unprofessional, myself),
is there anyway within the web site stats, to look for
when hits occured starting from a certain date?

Most stat applications should give you the ability to review by date.
