Website pages opening as 'new pages'

P

Piers

I've just published a website in FrontPage 2003 and
inadvertently pressed some button or other. The problem
is that when one uses the navigation bar on the published
website every page opens in a new page! This is
embarrassing! I have tried every combination of
republishing, removing 'new_page' options, etc but
obviously have not found the 'secret command' yet. Any
help would be much appreciated.

After all, it's one thing to open a new page if directing
a visitor to a different website (so sitll have your
webiste in the bakcground), but quite another to have
every page in your website opening in a new window!

Thanks!

Hi Piers,

This is normally caused by accidentally setting a base default target of
_blank.

In the page right click | page properties | click on Target | if a base
target is defined select and delete it.

Switch to code view and removing any base target tags in the head section of
your page.

I ran into the same problem.

Your default 'target frame' may not have a value in it.

Right click on the page | Page Properties | Default
Target Frame.

click on the ...button to browse. Select 'Whole Page'.
Republish your pages and see if that works for you.
