dnshelp

My companies website www.xxxxxx.com is accessible through
internal and external network, but when i try to access
it without www and just do xxxxxx.com it doesnt resolve.

Any suggestions on how i could fix this problem.

You need a blank host entry in your forward lookup. This will set it to
just the domain.

Not for the DNS part, so test that by typing either:

ping domainname.com
nslookup domainname.com

BTW, this is NOT going to work from "internal" since one presumes
you have DCs (which are not all Web servers). The DC also register
this name which masks the (external) web site using it.

You may need to specify a CNAME record on the external DNS to fix
it for OUTSIDE clients.

Do your external/internal domains have the same name?
Is your website on your LAN? DMZ?
