I have recently bought a laptop with vista home premium and have found it
does not support Front Page 2002 which means I cannot work on my own or other
sites. is there a way around this or do i have to spend a fortune on another
microsoft procuct?

Have you tried installing it with XP SP2 compatibility?
Right-click its exe, select properties, then compatibility.

You probably need. I don't know about FP 2002, but a few months ago, I
briefly tested FP 2003 with Vista
Ultimate and thought everything was fine, but then learned from this
newsgroup that when
inserting an image link or hyperlinks, FP2003 will crash even it is being
listed as supported by Vista. I tested and confirmed it - FP
2003 will indeed crash when inserting hyperlinks and no ones knows if MS
will fix it since they don't
sell FP 2003 anymore.

For FP 2002, I "assume" it should have more problems even if it can be
installed.

Alternatives for your consideration - Go back to XP for FP 2002 or buy MS
Expression Web or Adobe Dreamweaver CS3.

Expression Web is the successor of FrontPage and they have a special upgrade
price for FP owner, but be prepared to learn lots of new stuffs. EW doesn't
support FrontPage Extensions and primarily is for CSS and .Net. Dreamweaver
CS3 also has many new features.

Both products have a trial version, so you could try before buying it.

Hope this helps and good luck.

You might consider to another web authoring tool. There are several
available: nvu, screem, bluefish, amaya, quanta, mozilla composer. They
generally produce more efficient html than front page and won't cost you a
farthing.

FrontPage is compatible with Vista (but some users report problem w/
inserting hyperlinks)-- ===Tom WillettMicrosoft MVP - FrontPage---FrontPage

As others have stated, FP has issues on Vista. Probably won't see any
patches, as it is on it's last legs.

What can you do?
-Expression Web. Upgrade is ~$90.
-VirtualPC. Install XP inside of there, and install FP inside of that

This problem in unacceptable after this length of time - I crash PF2003 when
I insert links. It is not like another company created the problem making
FrontPage not work with Vista. My livelyhood depends on FrontPage and I do
not have the money or the time to go to another program right now. If I am
forced to abandon FrontPage and go to another program it will DEFINITELY not
be a Microsoft product.

Take your bad experience as a lesson learned. FrontPage is a kludge,
never was anything else and never will be anything else. Period. If
you want to create web sites for a living learn the RIGHT way so they
work on ANY browser with ANY web server WITHOUT depending on Microsoft
extensions. Good place to start would be here: http://www.w3c.org

Because I'm guessing you won't listen to reason, perhaps you'll find
this useful:

I made a small fortune designing web sites over a decade ago when it
still new was hot. In spite of being a beta tester for the original
version of FrontPage I NEVER would have used it to design a web site
for anyone else. Simply way too many restrictions and squirrelly
convoluted butchering of the underlying HTML code to make it
practical.

I hear you have to type it in until they come out with a patch, which I
guess you can check for it.
