Webroot Spysweeper Damaged by IE 7.0 Update?

In order to install the IE 7.0 update, I had to temporarily disable the
anti-hijack shield on Webroot Spysweeper. After installing IE 7.0, the
Spysweeper program will no longer function and I get a pop-up stating that it
has been damaged and needs to be re-installed. I can't find any way to do a
re-installation, since this program was supplied by Microsoft to all Windows
XP users and Webroot doesn't recognize the key code that is on my copy of it.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and have a solution for it? If
this has happened to everyone getting the IE 7.0 update, can we expect a fix
for it?

I wasn't able to even access the Spysweeper page from the All Programs list
after the update and had to go into my Drive "C" program files to bring it
onscreen (after that, it now is accessible from the All Programs list).
However, I can't reinstate the anti-hijack feature and the definitions update
and sweep features don't work. A notice tells me that there are now no
spyware definitions loaded. I can't contact Webroot's homepage through my
Spysweeper program screen, even after I added its name to the firewall
exceptions list. It tells me I have to be connected to the Internet (even
though I am), when I try to update the definitions.

You have two places to look for help:

1. The first place is Webroot. You should contact their tech support
and/or look on their webpage directly - not from within the program.
This may be a known issue and Webroot will have the workaround or
patch.

2. The IE7 newsgroup *after* you spend some time reading through the
posts there. The IE7 newsgroup is:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so it would be smart to start by going
to Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search term that describes your
problem, constrain the search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very
recently. You can also check MVP Sandi Hardmeier's canonical IE7 site.
Sandi has workarounds, known issues, troubleshooting, and links. This
may be the only site you need.

And no, I'm sorry but I don't have your answer or I would tell you
now. ;-)

You may have gotten a free version of Spysweeper from MSN, your ISP, but it
was not supplied by Microsoft to all WinXP users, Capt.

See if you're able to uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs, then contact
your ISP (MSN) about getting a replacement version.

Required reading IMHO before installing IE7:
