Webpage Database

Hi All,

I am creating the database using Access 97 and am experience difficulties
with the lack of features etc.

At home I have both Access XP and Access 2003.

What I am thinking of doing is just creating the database at home using
Access 2003 and then have a webpage form (think its called that) so users can
then access the database through our intranet, without the need for Access
2003.

Can anyone tell me if thats possible and if there are any limitations of this?

The form would use queries in the database and linked tables from ODBC
sources.

Please advise.

Generally speaking, you sacrifice UI features rather than gaining them when
you move to a web-based front-end. What features are you missing in Access
97? Without knowing what problem you're trying to solve, it's rather
difficult to know whether a move to a web-based front end would help or not.

The spammers and script-kiddies have succeeded in making it impossible for
me to use a real e-mail address in public newsgroups. E-mail replies to
this post will be deleted without being read. Any e-mail claiming to be
from brenreyn at indigo dot ie that is not digitally signed by me with a
GlobalSign digital certificate is a forgery and should be deleted without
being read. Follow-up questions should in general be posted to the
newsgroup, but if you have a good reason to send me e-mail, you'll find
a useable e-mail address at the URL above.

Hi Brendan,

The Form: Pivot tables aren't really up to scratch in 97 and I dont have any
later versions of Access here at work.

I was thinking of making it at home then making a Data Access Page so I
could connect to the database over our intranet.

Please let me know if I'm dreaming.

Sorry, Adam, my experience of web apps has all been with ASP or ASP.NET,
I've avoided DAPs. If I'd known you meant a DAP, I would not have responded,
as I don't know enough about them. Perhaps someone else will respond. If
not, you could try asking the question in the
microsoft.public.access.dataaccess.pages group.
