webforuser.com/counter

My startpage has been hijacked by webforuser.com/counter.
I have tried to run the MSAS Beta, which already was
installed and active without results.
Another additive problem is that the IE-browser will not
respond to any other webb adress and thereby makes the
browser useless. IE-applications seems to repeatadly open
in the background and smother my comp.
After reading messages here I will try to safe-boot and
run MSAS.
Have anyone encountered this spyware? Do anyone have other
advice?
Thanks.

Hi

I think this spyware is a new one, a search with Google gives
a few matches, searchword webforuser

- Send a suspected spyware report to MS about this, menu
tools within MSAS.

- Beacuse this is a new one HijackThis is needed.
You can follow this protocoll and in step 7 you will end in
a Forum.

While in Safe Mode open AntiSpy and select Advanced Tools,
System Explorers, Internet Explorer, IE BHO and block any
you find from starting. Then back up to Networking,
Window's Host file and Permanently Remove Host any entry
you didn't put there that does not go to 127.0.0.1.
Finally back up and find System, Shell Execute Hooks and
Block This Shell Execute Hook for anything that does not
have a Yellow Star. Then close AntiSpy and reboot into
Safe Mode and have AntiSpy run another full scan (all
three options checked under Scan Options).

If that doesn't help then:

Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

If you can't download it then get a friend to get it for
you and put it on a floppy. You can run it from the
floppy.

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select
Scan and Save Log. Note where you saved the log then
send it to me as an attachment. Put Hijack in the subject
so I'll know it's not spam.

Firstly, thanks for the help!
I tried to send the report but couldn't submit the report
due to connection problems. Any alternatives?
I have made a log file using the hijackthis.exe and sent
it to Ron.
Thanks again.
