I use IE 6.0 all the time and never really tried any
other browser. but lately i've been thinking of
installing firefox or opera. if i install one of those
browser will it ruin IE 6.0? how well does firefox work
on user account, is both browser performance comparable
to IE 6.0. will it also ruin other application that
require IE 6.0? like norton antivirus, MSAS beta 1,
zonealarm?

People have different opinions about different browsers. (I like IE6 with
SP2)
Performance I find is about the same. I have not found many problem with
compatibility. When you install FF or opera it will take control over html
files(associate it).

You can run multiple browsers. IE will still work fine, but when you click
on a URL, only the browser you have set to handle such URL's will launch.

Microsoft Antispyware has some real-time agents that are designed to work
with IE. Those agents won't be active when you are using a different
browser. The other agents will still be working just fine, though.

Hi

Well, thats really good to avoid hijackers ;)

It´s time for IE7, IE6 is "dead".

Go ahead and install Firefox. Its much better and far more
sucure than IE. Install a couple of its extensions,
especially the "all-in-one mouse guestures". You'll never
use IE again (except for those non-standard web pages that
use IE specifics - and then you can call IE up from within
Firefox using the IEview extension).

It is very easy to set and unser FF as being your default
browser. But it is very fiddly reseting IE back to be the
default browser (its option for doing this doesn't work)
but you can do it via the control panel (I think its
actually done in the add/remove programs section).

I use FF--latest version great and stable. Opera
recently removed banner ads--they are trying to increase
their market share by following the lead of FireFox.
Opera is really quick. Both Opera and FF are completly
compatable with IE, and I have had no problem with zone
alarm or norton
