Webcam presentations

Hi - I'm preparing a PowerPoint presentation, and after
watching the news tonight and seeing a story on how
parents are monitoring their babies remotely via webcams,
it occurred to me that I could possibly transmit my
presentation realtime via the web. Does anyone have any
experience with something like this?

The presentation and slides are not static, as I'm
talking and changing the content of the slides during the
presentation. So the idea of having a camera on the
PowerPoint screen (or something "capturing" the action on
the screen) that can be transmitted would be required.

There is no need for the camera to be on me, hee hee,
just on what's happening on the PowerPoint screen, plus
my accompanying voice.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I
would need to know what I need to do this in terms of
equipment (hardware and/or software), and what the
viewers would need on their end (if anything).

I'm currently on a dial-up line. I guess I know the
answer to this already, but if I'm transmitting action on
my end, I suppose I should switch to DSL?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Microsoft NetMeeting is being used at many places for this purpose.
NetMeeting allows you to share application screens and the desktop with
other people. You can share your PowerPoint slide show. other peopl can join
your NetMeeting session and can view the slide show full screen. You can
navigate the slide show while other peoplr view it.

NetMeeting is available for free and actually comes preinstalled on recent
versions of Windows.

Hi - thanks. I'll look into it. But, gulp, the price
may be out of my range. They charge 35 cents per minute,
per participant.

Yes, it's beyond my means too. I guess it's easily justified by corporations
that save much much more in travel expenses. Dial-up wouldn't work with Live
Meeting either.

Try using the application sharing that comes with MSN Messenger and Windows
Messenger.

Hi - thanks, I took a look, and there it is!
I'll look and see if any of these options can work for
me. Thanks everyone for replying.
